The TKS Tankette was an ultra-light, low-profile armored reconnaissance vehicle that formed the backbone of Poland’s mechanized forces at the outbreak of World War II. Developed in the 1930s as an improvement over the earlier TK-3, this tiny two-man vehicle relied on its minuscule size and impressive speed to ambush enemy forces and perform vital scouting missions. Powered by a reliable Polski Fiat engine, it was incredibly difficult for enemy gunners to target in the field. While most versions were lightly armed with a machine gun, a select few were up-gunned with a potent 20mm cannon, famously allowing Polish tankers to successfully knock out heavier German panzers during the 1939 invasion. The TKS remains an iconic symbol of Polish ingenuity, bravery, and asymmetric armored warfare.
