The T-60 was an ultra-light scout tank developed by the Soviet Union in 1941 to meet the desperate demand for armored vehicles during the German invasion. Designed to be cheap and easy to mass-produce, this tiny two-man vehicle utilized automobile engines and standard components, allowing factories to build them rapidly in place of complex medium tanks. Armed with a 20mm TNSh automatic cannon and a co-axial machine gun, it was nimble and low-profile, making it an excellent platform for scouting, infantry support, and navigating the deep mud and snow of the Eastern Front. Despite its thin armor, the T-60 played a critical stopgap role in the defense of Moscow and Leningrad, embodying the rugged utility and relentless production focus of Soviet wartime engineering.
