The M3 Lee was an American medium tank designed during the early stages of World War II, known for its distinctive dual-gun configuration. Its primary armament was a 75mm gun mounted in a sponson on the right side of the hull, complemented by a 37mm gun in a rotating turret, offering flexibility in engaging both armored and infantry targets. Powered by a reliable radial engine, the M3 Lee could reach speeds of up to 26 mph, making it suitable for various terrains. Though its high profile and limited turret traverse were drawbacks, it provided critical support in North Africa, where its firepower and rugged design contributed to Allied victories. The M3 Lee served as a stepping stone to the more advanced M4 Sherman, marking an important phase in American armored development.
