The Lorraine 15cm Self-Propelled Gun was a French artillery platform repurposed by German forces during World War II. Built on the chassis of the Lorraine 37L armored supply vehicle, it was modified to carry a 15cm sFH 18 howitzer, providing mobile fire support for German units. Its open-topped design allowed for efficient loading and operation of the gun, though it left the crew vulnerable to enemy fire. With a top speed of around 35 km/h, it maintained good mobility for a self-propelled artillery piece, enabling it to reposition quickly on the battlefield. Used primarily on the Eastern Front and in France, this improvised yet effective vehicle played a crucial role in providing heavy firepower where traditional towed artillery was less practical.
