In the Alternative History the Walker development began in secret during the autumn of 1941, as progress began to slow on the Eastern Front in Operation Barbarossa. With the relative success of the Läuferkorps by mid-1943, the German high command ordered the development of additional “supplemental” walker designs that could be produced alongside the proven Kampfläufer I units, preferably at a lower cost.
