The 15 cm Kanone 16 (K16) was a long-range heavy field gun developed by Germany during World War I and later used in World War II. Designed by Krupp, it fired powerful 149mm shells capable of reaching targets over 22 km away, making it ideal for counter-battery fire and deep artillery support. Mounted on a box trail carriage with a hydro-pneumatic recoil system, the K16 combined stability with precision, though its considerable weight limited mobility and required motorized or horse-drawn transport. While it lacked the rapid redeployment capability of more modern guns, its exceptional range and accuracy kept it in service well into the Second World War. The 15 cm K16 remained a symbol of German heavy artillery’s emphasis on long-range dominance and industrial craftsmanship.
