The Curtiss P-36 Hawk was an American fighter aircraft of the late 1930s, known for its rugged design and solid performance in the early days of World War II. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-1830 radial engine, the P-36 could reach speeds of up to 313 mph, making it one of the more agile fighters of its era. Its distinctive gull-wing design and all-metal construction gave it durability, while its armament of .30 and .50 caliber machine guns made it capable in air combat. Though quickly outclassed by newer aircraft, the P-36 Hawk saw action in several theaters, earning its place as a key transitional fighter in the development of American air power.
