The 4TP was a Polish light reconnaissance tank prototype developed in the late 1930s as part of an effort to modernize Poland’s armored forces. Compact and agile, it featured a 20mm autocannon and a 7.92mm machine gun mounted in a rotating turret, offering solid firepower for its class. With a top speed of around 50 km/h and good cross-country mobility, the 4TP was designed for scouting and infantry support missions. Its sloped armor provided modest protection against small arms and shrapnel. Although only a single prototype was completed and it never entered mass production, the 4TP reflected Poland’s ambition to develop modern, homegrown armored vehicles on the eve of World War II.
